Electric City Barn is an innovative hub designed to bolster the creative economy by connecting emerging makers and community members through project based programing—a place where creativity works.
The space is separated into studios specialized to meet the technical needs of both established and emerging artists, craftsmen and women, and creative businesses. Each studio was chosen based on its applicability to rising industries in the Capital Region, particularly those experiencing skill gaps in employment efforts. Our hope is that this space will unite creatives of all backgrounds to collaborate, assist, nurture, and support each other.
The space consists of a wood shop, metal shop, fiber arts and textile studio with screen printing, digital media lab, electronics lab, 3D printing and recycling studio, a screen room, and a stage. The metal shop, wood shop, fiber arts studio, and 3D printing lab are considered specialty studios and will require safety training to access independently. We are working closely with local experts to ensure the studios are outfitted with equipment that will best suit the needs our members. Each studio will be assigned Key Holder Members who will oversee safety protocols and training, tool purchasing and maintenance, and inventory.
